About Keep the Light Anyone that knows Daryl Hayott personally, knows his heart and and his compassion. They also know that he spent almost two years of his life as a homeless person on the streets of New York City. Hardly no one paid attention to the young man foraging through garbage cans for food or sleeping inside of a cardboard box praying that it wouldn't get blown away or that it wouldn't get so saturated by the rain that he would get wet. There was one person who would seek him out to feed him. His wonderful cousin Anna would search through the many people on the streets whenever she could just to find him. Throughout that time, Daryl, just a teenager, continued to go to high school, maintained excellent grades, continued his studies of martial arts and played music on a professional level. This experience deepened Daryl's conviction to seek out those that were discouraged or whom had been tossed away to offer encouragement and support in whatever way possible. Helping the homeless has always been important to him. During an interview with publicist Tomaca, Daryl was asked, "You say Keep the Light all the time. It's posted on all your blogs. What does it mean?" "Keep the light is a spiritual phrase. The light is the Creator's life force that flows through us. We all have the ability to turn this light on and use it. You turn yours on, then help someone else to turn theirs on and it flows outward from there. We all help each other to keep the light." Thus began the first steps to build the Keep the Light Foundation. Our goal is to help those in need using the philosophy of "teach a man to fish and he will be able to feed himself." We seek to empower individuals so they can become self-sufficient and self-fulfilling. We want to help them to Keep the Light. It's a monumental task but with the Creator's help, we seek the means and the people to help us accomplish this goal. So we are just beginning and slowly taking steps to set up this foundation. Can you help? Please tell us.
